Introduced by Doodles, the wildly successful Ethereum-based NFT collection, the new ecosystem token DOOD launched today as a token exclusive to the Doodles platform. This three-year initiative is a huge step toward realizing the project. It’s an especially fortuitous moment for the company with Scott Martin, aka Burnt Toast, recently taking over as CEO. As part of the launch, Doodles NFT holders received 30% of the DOOD token supply through a snapshot-based airdrop claim.
The launch of the DOOD token represents Doodles' strategy to bridge the gap between satisfying its crypto-native holders and expanding into a broader consumer brand. 13% of the DOOD token supply has been reserved for other Web3 communities. Doodles are having a hard time satisfying the expectations of its inner crypto neighborhood. Simultaneously, it sought to attract a more diverse audience.
"DOOD is our answer to that exact tension," - Martin
Scott Martin, the artistic genius behind the brand that kicked it all off, Doodles, wants to be able to have more of an ability to experiment. He wants to move on from the “extractive corpo” tactics that once laced Doodles. As Martin explains, the DOOD token will have other utilities down the line.
Trading of the DOOD token is officially live. The launch comes after a period of heightened enthusiasm for other tokens, particularly those that have launched on Solana. All of these tokens have experienced major downturns in price since.
"We launched DOOD not to follow trends but because we believe in building real, long term, value for our community," - Martin
Over the past year, meme coin trading has made Solana a meme in its own right. Doodles' move to launch on Solana reflects a strategic decision to leverage the blockchain's popularity and vibrant community.
"We build wherever it makes the most sense." - Martin
Scott Martin has hinted at more activations in the near future, of which DreamNet is the first. Doodles’ launch of the DOOD token on Solana is a huge step in a new direction for the project.
"Web3 is the infrastructure powering what we do, but we’re building experiences that resonate far beyond the typical crypto crowd." - Martin
Scott Martin has indicated that there will be more activations coming soon, with DreamNet being the first. Doodles' launch of the DOOD token on Solana represents a major move forward for the project.
