Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has teased the chance at something pretty special. He proposes that Midnight, a privacy-preserving blockchain platform, would be able to provide free transactions by using NFTs. This Allied concept provides users with a fixed number of fee-free transactions per day. That’s the same thing as all of the free accounts and services that Web2 platforms offer. Government compliance Midnight is explicitly meant to balance privacy with regulatory compliance through the use of state-of-the-art tools like zero-knowledge proofs and smart contracts.

Midnight has been in active development during the period since that announcement. Taking that even further, Hoskinson recently floated another novel idea. He suggested using NFTs as access passes, granting holders a certain number of free transactions per day. This model is similar to those used by Web2 platforms, where users are given free access to base services. Our developer Iyiola Adrian also penned an exposition on Midnight, detailing its industry-beating, new take on blockchain technology.

Our most recent survey found that 12% of our respondents began calling themselves blockchain developers from one month to the next, in December to January. Furthermore, it suggested that 46% of respondents identified as
